Reading the Server Detail Page

When you click on a server from your Server Scout dashboard, you'll be taken to the Server Detail Page—your comprehensive view into that server's performance and health. This page is designed with a clear hierarchy: quick insights at a glance, with detailed metrics available when you need them.

Server Summary Card

At the top of the page, you'll find the server summary card containing essential information about your server:

• Hostname: The server's network hostname
• Display Name: A custom name you've assigned (if different from hostname)
• Status Indicator: A visual indicator showing whether the server is online, offline, or experiencing issues
• Last Seen: Timestamp showing when Server Scout last received data from this server
• Device Type: Indicates the type of server or device being monitored

This summary gives you immediate context about which server you're viewing and its current operational status.

Understanding the Metric Panels

Below the summary card, you'll see a series of collapsible panels organised by system component. Each panel follows the same principle: quick overview from the panel header, detailed metrics when expanded.

Panel Headers: Your Quick Overview

Each panel header displays the most critical metric for that system component:

• CPU Panel: Shows current CPU usage percentage
• Memory Panel: Displays used memory vs. total available memory
• Disk & Storage Panel: Shows disk usage statistics
• Network Panel: Displays network activity metrics
• Load & Processes Panel: Shows system load averages
• System Panel: Contains general system information

This design allows you to quickly scan down the page and identify any areas that might need attention without expanding every panel.

Expanding and Collapsing Panels

To view detailed metrics for any component, simply click on the panel header. The panel will expand to reveal:

• Detailed graphs and charts
• Historical data visualisations
• Additional metrics not shown in the header
• Time-series data for trend analysis

Click the panel header again to collapse it and return to the compact view. This accordion-style interface keeps the page manageable whilst providing access to comprehensive data when needed.

Time Range Selectors

When you expand panels containing graphs, you'll notice time range selectors typically showing options like:

• 1H: Last hour of data
• 6H: Last 6 hours
• 24H: Last 24 hours
• 7D: Last 7 days

These selectors allow you to adjust the time window for the displayed data, helping you identify short-term spikes or longer-term trends. Simply click your desired time range to update the graph accordingly.

Plugin Panels

At the bottom of the Server Detail Page, you may see additional panels specific to software running on your server. Server Scout automatically detects and provides specialised monitoring for popular control panels and backup solutions:

• cPanel: Web hosting control panel metrics
• DirectAdmin: Alternative control panel monitoring
• Plesk: Enterprise web hosting platform data
• JetBackup: Backup solution status and statistics

These plugin panels follow the same expand/collapse behaviour as the system metric panels and provide insights tailored to these specific applications.

Navigating Efficiently

The Server Detail Page is designed for efficient server monitoring workflows:

1. Quick Health Check: Scan the panel headers for any obvious issues
2. Investigate Problems: Expand relevant panels to examine detailed metrics
3. Analyse Trends: Use time range selectors to understand patterns
