Up and Running in 60 Seconds

No packages to install, no dependencies to manage. Servers get a lightweight agent, devices get agentless polling.

1

Add a Server or Device

Click "Add Server / Device" in your dashboard. For servers, you'll get a unique install command. For network devices, enter the IP and SNMP/IPMI credentials.

2

Install the Agent or Assign a Poller

For servers, paste the one-liner to install the lightweight bash agent. For switches, DRAC/iLO, UPS, and other devices, select an existing agent to act as a poller — no software needed on the device itself.

curl -sS https://app.serverscout.ie/install.sh | bash

★★★★★

"We switched from a well-known enterprise tool. Our monitoring overhead dropped from 200MB per server to under 3MB. The graphs are cleaner too."

★★★★★

"Migrated 25 servers from our old monitoring in an afternoon. The install script is bulletproof - worked on CentOS 7, Rocky 9, Ubuntu 22.04 and Debian 12 without a hitch."

★★★★★

"Setup took about 45 seconds per server. No repos to add, no GPG keys to import, no config files to wrestle with. Just one curl command and it was reporting."

★★★★★

"Perfect for my freelance setup. I manage 12 client servers and the pricing actually makes sense at that scale. No per-feature upsells."

★★★★★

"The agent auto-updates itself quietly in the background. One less thing to maintain across 30 servers. I genuinely forget it is there until an alert fires."

FR
Fiona Ryan

★★★★

"Dark mode on the dashboard is a small thing, but when you are staring at server stats at 2am during an incident, it matters more than you would think."

Siobhan Kelly

★★★★★

"IPMI monitoring for our Dell iDRACs was the killer feature. We can see hardware temperatures and fan speeds right next to the OS-level metrics."

★★★★★

"The plugin system is brilliant. We wrote a custom plugin to monitor our Redis queues in about 20 minutes. Try doing that with the big monitoring platforms."

Sarah Chen

★★★★★

"We replaced a monitoring stack that was using more resources than some of our production apps. Server Scout uses practically nothing — I had to double-check it was actually running."

Frequently Asked Questions

Server Scout works on any Linux distribution with bash — Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, RHEL, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, Fedora, Amazon Linux, and more. If it runs bash, it runs Server Scout.
The agent is a lightweight bash script that runs as a systemd service. It collects system metrics (CPU, memory, disk, load, network, services) and sends them to the Server Scout API over HTTPS. It uses about 3MB of RAM and has zero external dependencies.
If a server stops reporting, Server Scout detects the absence within minutes and triggers an offline alert. You'll be notified immediately so you can investigate. When the server comes back online, metrics resume automatically.
All communication between your servers and Server Scout uses HTTPS encryption. The agent authenticates with a unique API key. We also support SHA-256 integrity verification to ensure your agent hasn't been tampered with. Your data is stored on EU-based servers.
Server Scout is currently offered as a hosted service only. This allows us to keep the agent as lightweight as possible and handle all the infrastructure for you. If you have specific requirements, please get in touch.

Yes. Server Scout supports agentless monitoring for network switches, DRAC/iLO management cards, UPS units, PDUs, and other infrastructure devices. A designated Scout agent acts as a poller, querying your devices via SNMP (v2c/v3) or IPMI and reporting metrics to the dashboard. Each device appears as its own card with type-specific information like port status, temperatures, and battery levels.

Server Scout supports agentless monitoring for network switches (port status, throughput, errors via SNMP), DRAC/iLO and other BMC cards (temperatures, fan speeds, PSU status via IPMI), UPS units (battery level, load, input/output voltage via SNMP), PDUs, storage appliances, and printers. Any device that exposes metrics over SNMP v2c, SNMP v3, or IPMI can be monitored.
