Server Scout operates on a monthly billing cycle. Your subscription is billed at the start of each billing period, which begins on the same date each month as your initial subscription or trial conversion.
When Billing Starts
Your billing cycle depends on how you begin your Server Scout journey:
- With free trial: If you start with our 3-month free trial, billing begins automatically when your trial period ends. You'll be charged for your first month on the day your trial expires.
- Without trial: If you choose to subscribe immediately without using the free trial, billing starts straight away on your subscription date.
The billing date remains consistent each month. For example, if your trial ends on the 15th of the month, you'll be billed on the 15th of each subsequent month.
Billing Notifications
Transparency is important to us, so we ensure you're always informed about your billing activity:
- Email receipts: You'll receive an email receipt for each payment, sent to your account's primary email address
- Payment confirmations: Successful payments are confirmed immediately via email
- Billing reminders: We may send courtesy reminders before your next billing date

We understand that payment failures can happen for various reasons—expired cards, insufficient funds, or bank security measures. Our approach to failed payments is designed to be both understanding and transparent:
What Happens When Payment Fails
If a payment fails, here's what you can expect:
- Immediate email notification: You'll receive an email explaining the payment failure and providing clear instructions to resolve the issue
- Grace period: Your Server Scout service continues uninterrupted for a grace period while you resolve the payment issue
- Multiple retry attempts: Our system will automatically attempt to process the payment again over the following days
Resolving Payment Issues
To resolve a failed payment:
- Check the failure reason in the email notification
- Update your payment method in Account Settings if needed
- Ensure sufficient funds are available
- Contact your bank if the card is being declined for security reasons
If you're unable to resolve the payment issue during the grace period, your service may be temporarily suspended until payment is successful. However, your server data and configuration remain safe, and service resumes immediately once payment is processed.
